Essential Prior to the Cosmelan Peel:
De-pigmentaion Prep Kit
As part of the Cosmelan treatment program it is essential to use the De-pigmentaion Prep Kit for 14 days prior to the application of the Cosmelan mask peel.

Prep Peel Treatment
As part of the Cosmelan treatment program it is essential to come into the clinic for a Melanostop tranx Chemical Skin Peel from 48 hours to 1 week prior to the application of the Cosmelan treatment mask.

What will it involve?
Your skin care practitioner will complete a detailed consultation to establish your skin type, history and the cause of the pigmentation, all of which will determin the best de-pigmentation program to suit you.
The Cosmelan De-pigmentation treatment process consists of several phases:

1. De-pigmentaion Prep Kit
As part of the Cosmelan treatment program protocols it is essential to use the De-pigmentaion Prep Kit for 15 days prior to the application of the Cosmelan treatment mask.
For very congested skin it is advised to undertake a Steam & Pore Extraction, which will enable us to remove any blockage; ideally the day when you come to clinic to collect the De-pigmentation Prep Kit.

2. Prep Peel Treatment
As part of the Cosmelan treatment program protocols it is essential undertake a professional  Melanostop tranx Chemical Skin Peel treatment from 48 hours to 1 week  prior to the application of the Cosmelan treatment mask.

3. Cosmelan Mask Treatment Day
The Cosmelan treatment mask is applied at the clinic by a qualified skin care practitioner. You will leave the clinic with the mask on, it will appear as a thick layer of putty. (Not advised to travel home on public transport)

4. Homecare Treatment
Due to the length of time the treatment mask has to be left on the skin (6 to 8 hours) you will need to remove it at home; your skin care practitioner will provide the time upon which to remove your mask.

Mask Application Times:
6 hours for sensitive / dry skin
8 hours for normal / oily skin

Wash the mask off with tepid water and a clean flannel. Apply the Melan Recovery product.

Day 1
Products to use as per treatment protocols twice a day, am and pm.
Brightening Wash Cleanser
Melan Recovery
Fast Skin Repair (optional)
Melan 130+ Pigment Control (every 2 hours when exposed to any UV radiation)

Day 1 to day 6
Follow the same homecare as Day 1.

Day 6
In clinic visit to review skin peeling process and collect the Cosmelan 2.

Day 7
For the 6 months the following homecare must be used two times per day; am, daytime and pm.

Melan Recovery
Melan 130+ Pigment Control (every 2 hours whenexposed to any UV radiation, not required before bed)

If the skin feels too sensitve – Advised to apply Fast Skin Repair before the Melan Recovery

Review 1 – After 1 Month
There will be visible reduction in pigmentation; an average of 80%.
You will need to purchase your second jar of Cosmelan 2 and continue to use twice a day along with using the same products; am and pm.

Reviews – Every 3 Months
These reviews are essential to monitor progress and re stock your Cosmelan 2 and homecare products.

Review – After 6 Months
This is required 6 months after the first review. (6 months after the clinic procedure)
You will need to purchase your stock of the Cosmelan 2 and reduce the usage to once per day;pm, for the next 12 months. Transx Concentrate & Tranx Gel Cream can be used am to boost results.
At this 6 month stage it is now acceptable to introduce other skin treatments such as skin peels, micro-needling, radio frequency, laser etc.

Why have the procedure?
The Cosmelan De-pigmentation program provides quick and effective results for deeper, established pigmentation; particularly of Melasma origin.
We successfully treat pigmentation caused from excessive sun exposure, UV artificial light exposure; pigmentation caused by hormone changes, trauma or stress, freckles and birthmarks.
These treatments are suitable for all skin types and ethnic origins to treat the Face, Neck, Chest and Hands and produces outstanding results in the treatment of:

IMPORTANT NOTE:
If you are undertaking a program of de-pigmentation treatments, it is very common for underlying deep melanin to work to the surface of the skin which can make the pigmentation appear darker at various intervals.

Does it hurt?
There is no discomfort during the application of the Cosmelan De-pigmentation.
A day after treatment a sensation of skin tightening, sensitivity and inflammation can be experienced; the severity of these symptoms will depend each individual’s reaction.
Generally:
It is an intense procedure whereby swelling may last 2 to 7 days, visible peeling last up to 21 days, redness up to 30 days and sensitivity up to 6 to 8 weeks.
Continuous clinic support is available during the program to guide each individual through the process.

How many treatments do I need?
A single Cosmelan De-pigmentation treatment provides outstanding results; however depending on your skin condition and your skin improvement goals you may need a further treatment to achieve desired results.

How quickly will I see the results?
The results of the Cosmelan De-pigmentation are evident within a week and are progressive whilst using the Cosmelan 2 treatment homecare cream; up to 80% reduction in the first month.
It is imperative to complete the 12 month program as advised by your practitioner to achieve optimum results.

How long will the results last?
The results can be maintained; however this will depend on many factors such as, if you completed the full 12 month program, how one cares for their skin post treatment, stress, hormone influences and UV exposure.

Alternative Skin Peel Options:
The Melanostop tranx Chemical Peel provides effective results for milder pigmentation disorders (not Melasma). They provide a less intense procedure  whereby peeling and side effects may only last a few days.
As the Melanostop tranx Chemical Peel process are easier to fit in to your busy life it can provide an alternative treatment in the reduction of pigmentation. However a course of 3 to 5 sessions would be required, taken 14 days apart to achieve best results.
It is important to know that these alternatives are not advised to treat Melasma or very deep established pigmentation disorders.

M-Pen Micro-needling treatment combined with c.prof de-pigmentation solution is an affective treatment option in reducing pigmentation and uneven skin tone.

Side Effects & Aftercare Post Peel Treatment
There is a recovery and healing period post Cosmelan Peel treatment; therefore treat as a hyper sensitive skin.

During the program it is paramount that you only use the products provided by your skin care practitioner.

After 48 hours you can use a mineral base make-up.

Avoid the following for the next 14 days:
Waxing, hair removal/bleaching, hair dye, AHA’s, BHA’s, Retinol, self-tanning lotions; swimming, exercise, massage, heat treatments, sauna and steam.

It is strongly advised to avoid sun, sunbed, UV exposure whilst on the program to ensure the best possible results.

Do not peel, pick, scratch or scrape the skin, or any loose skin resulting from the treatment, this must come off in its own time with no assistance; ignoring this advice can lead to scarring.

At any point if the skin feels irritated and in need of some calming; apply Fast Skin Repair and or Anti-Stress Face Mask. If the skin requires more moisture, apply Hydra Factor K Moisturiser.

It is a MUST to wear Sun Protection SPF +130 daily.
