Herbal Medicine
Herbal Medicine is the practice of medicine that embraces a holistic, natural approach to the treatment of the sick.
It is a complementary or alternative medicine (CAM) with a holistic approach as it treats the person as a whole, rather than focusing on a diseased part or a labelled sickness.
Herbal Medicine has its origins in ancient cultures where botanicals such as the roots, stems, leaves, flowers, or seeds are used to improve health, prevent disease, treat illness and enhance wellbeing.

What is Herbal Medicine?
Herbal Medicine, rooted in ancient origin cultures is a practice that is based on the concept that disease can be treated with controlled plant-based medicine.
Herbal Medicine treats the person as a whole, mentally, emotionally and physically.
There is increasing evidence to support the idea that how you are feeling psychologically can have a direct impact on your physical health. Emotional stress caused by trauma, grief, shock, abandonment, mental exhaustion or major life-changes can leave us drained and prone to illness; stress has been linked to decreased functioning of the immune system and the imbalance of the nervous system all of which increase the risk of developing obesity, diabetes, heart disease, gut and hormone related issues, addictions to name a few. Herbal Medicine stimulates the body’s own natural healing mechanism.
What will the treatment involve?
Your Herbal Medical consultant will ask you to complete a detailed questionnaire, including your medical and family history. You will be asked to list any medications or supplements that you may currently be taking.
A confidential, in-depth consultation follows, from which all your aspects of your health, including past medical history, diet, lifestyle, personality type, current health problems and emotional concerns.
The initial consultations can take up to 90-120 minutes, whilst follow up appointments are generally shorter.
Bespoke herbal remedies are prescribed to you by our medical herbalist who operates a fully functional dispensary sourced from the best suppliers in the country and organic where possible and this can be in the form of a tonic. Non-alcoholic formulations are available which are ideal for children.
Your consultant will explain to you the instructions on how to take the remedies.
Bespoke Holistic Medicine Treatment
As well as taking herbal medicine formulas your practitioner may also incorporate treatments where suited, these may include Acupuncture types such as Doist, TCM and Five Elements. Other modalities such as Cupping Therapy, Gua Sha Therapy, Electro-Acupuncture, Chinese ‘Tui Na’ Massage, as well as a range of other bodywork including Holistic Massage, Reflexology and Acupressure may also be integrated to achieve optimal results.
Creating a customised treatment to suit you and your health care needs whether it is an introduction to wellness, specific concerns such as pain relief or to regulate a specific system such as the nervous system, or simply to relax.
Whether you use all of these holistic medicine modalities or, take Herbal Medicine alone, each work fundamentally by working with each person on an individual basis. All treatments are uniquely put together to suit the individual needs using naturopathic principles.

How many sessions do I need?
This depends very much on what condition you have and its severity. For long-standing conditions, a course of treatment may be needed.
How quickly will I see the results?
You will see and feel results within your first course of herbal remedies and progressively improve your health on a truly holistic level.
How long will the results last?
Once you have improved your mental, emotional and physical health, you should vibrate on an improved frequency, depending, however, on your lifestyle, stress levels and nutrition. Your medical herbalist will advise you with recommendations.
Are there any side effects?
Herbal medications can mistakenly be perceived as safe because they are natural products however, they contain powerful properties and may produce negative effects on an individual such as allergic reactions, rashes, asthma, headaches, dizziness, agitation, dry mouth, seizures, fatigue, tachycardia, nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea.
Are Herbal Medicines safe?
Herbal medicines are made of natural active ingredients made from plant parts, such as roots, stems, leaves, flowers, or seeds. But being “natural” doesn’t necessarily mean they’re safe for you to take. Just like conventional medicines, herbal medicines will have an effect on the body, and can be potentially harmful if not used correctly.
Due to the powerful potent ingredients of the herbal medicines they should be taken with the same level of caution as pharmaceutical medications.
Like other prescription medications, herbal medicine should always be prescribed by a qualified and registered practitioner.

Debbie is very gentle and explains what she is doing and why when doing acupuncture. I was very nervous about having it done but Debbie put me at ease straight away and I would highly recommend having treatment by her.
I have regular treatments from Debbie for ailments at time, always feels so much better afterwards. Debbie always spot on with what i need and extra help with herbs continues to keep me healthy and in good shape. Must add her gentle touch with the needles is a definite help and comfort as i don’t like needles. Would definitely recommend Debbie!
I have been having weekly acupuncture sessions with Debbie for a few months now – she has really helped to address the areas that drove me to my first appointment and I’ve also noticed improvements in my sleep and overall health. I have found her very professional and really value her knoweldge, advice and insights. I would highly recommend her.
After walking in with a stiff neck aching shoulder and several other ailments with acupuncture and cupping the pressure and tension has now been released and I can walk with my head held up high and straight 🤣 Thank you Debbie
I have never felt better or had an experience like this. As a result of my Acupuncture and Herbal treatments I no longer suffer any of my prevailing issues. I highly recommend Debbie as your practitioner.
