Anti Wrinkle Injections

Anti-wrinkle injections involve several injections to relax the muscles where their activity causes lines and wrinkles.

The procedure involves injecting botulinum toxin type A, a purified protein that blocks the nerve signal from your brain to your muscles, causing them to temporarily relax thus limiting movement of certain muscles.

This results in the overlaying skin of the area treated becoming smoother and unwrinkled, so that the skin appears younger offering a natural, rejuvenated look.

What is an Anti-wrinkle Injection?

An anti-wrinkle injection is a purified protein of the toxin normally produced by Clostridium botulinum.

Botulinum toxin is a prescriptive product where approval of client’s suitability must be received via a medical prescriber.

Wrinkles and fine lines develop over time by the repeated contraction of facial muscles. By injecting botulinum toxin precisely into these specific muscles, the nerve impulse traveling to the muscle is blocked. This blockage prevents contraction, therefore relaxing the muscles.

Typically, you will see an improvement in the appearance of those fine lines and wrinkles within 2 weeks following treatment.

How is the botulinum toxin prepared?

The botulinum toxin is stored in the refrigerator until such time as it will be administered, and is prepared just before being administered for the best quality results.

A sterile station is prepared for the administration of the botulinum toxin injections, where the solution is prepared. The botulinum toxin is then drawn up into a very fine syringe ready to inject.

What will the treatment involve?

Your practitioner will complete a thorough consultation to ascertain that botulinum toxin is a suitable treatment for you. If so, the consultation details are passed over to a medical prescriber for suitability and the prescription to be approved.

During treatment the area to be treated is cleansed and sterilized. Then the botulinum toxin solution is injected into the wrinkle-causing muscles.

The treatment takes approximately 10 to 15 minutes.

Allow extra time if you want the application of a local anesthetic.

Please advise your practitioner if you have an allergy to, or have ever had a reaction to, any such anaesthetic.

The procedure is very quick – a short, sharp pain during the injection may be felt.

You are invited back to the clinic for a review to ascertain if any modifications are required to ensure the desired results have been achieved.

Why have the procedure?

Anti-wrinkle Injections are known for being a quick procedure and providing undeniable results, which makes this the most popular anti-ageing cosmetic treatment available.

This treatment will be excellent to treat:

  • Forehead lines
  • Crow’s feet (lines at the side of the eyes)
  • Brow Lift
  • Bunny Lines
  • Chin dimpling
  • Downward smile
  • Gummy smile
  • Lip flip
  • Jawline slimming
  • Neck lift
  • Hyperhidrosis (sweat reduction)

Does it hurt?

The actual procedure is very quick. If you opt out of the local anesthetic, a mild discomfort can be experienced during the procedure due to the small needle injections involved. However, each individual has a varied pain threshold in relation to needle insertion.

If you opt for the local anesthetic to be applied to the treated area prior to the administration of the injections, the procedure is generally pain free.

Care is taken to make the injection as comfortable as possible.

As with all injections there may be some mild temporary discomfort and redness in the direct injection site, which subsides quickly.

Cold applications can aid any discomfort post treatment.

Please advise your practitioner if you have an allergy to, or have ever had a reaction to, any such anaesthetic.

How many treatments do I need?

One treatment is required every 3 to 6 months to keep the desired look.

Depending on the severity of the lines and wrinkles, skin boosters or dermal filler may be recommended along with the anti-wrinkle injection as the wrinkle may be too deep to be smoothed out alone.

How quickly will I see the results?

You will see results 4 to 10 days after a single treatment. The maximum effect being observed 5 to 6 weeks after injection. The treatment effect can be seen for 3 to 6 months after injection.

How long will the results last?

The results can last 3 to 6 months.

Are anti-wrinkle injections safe?

Botulinum toxin has been in medical use for more than four decades and thousands of men and women have received anti-winkle injections in the UK every year.

No special hazard has been observed in human beings, except in high doses which exceed the aesthetic dose used.

Botulinum toxin is administered in such a way that it only affects your muscles and sweat glands, and does not reach any other part of the body.

Providing the anti-wrinkle injections are administered by a qualified, competent practitioner, the risks are extremely minimal.

What our customers say

Emporium has been my facial clinic for the past 15 years, I have tried many of their facial options. I recently had the Nlite Rejuvenation laser facial…

Amazing in reducing my open pores and wrinkles.

All the girls are lovely and the working environment is friendly.

What our customers say

I visited the clinic last week for a deep cleanse facial and milia removal. The milia was rather large and had unfortunately become irritated, inflamed and sore. Angela was fantastic and I couldn’t believe how quickly she removed it. She made sure there was as little discomfort as possible, and talked me through everything she was doing. My skin felt wonderful after the facial also!

I really appreciated Angela giving me advice prior to my appointment, and checking up on how my skin was healing after.

Great personable service that I fully recommend.
