Thread veins
Thread veins, also known as spider veins, broken blood vessels, broken veins or capillary veins, are small prominent red, purple, or blue veins that typically appear just below the skin surface and are found on the face and body, such as the thighs, calves and ankles.

Thread veins are most commonly present on the face, and can be caused by a number of factors and lifestyle contributions, including sun exposure, extremes of temperature, skin trauma, genetics, alcohol consumption, and aggressive skin handling to name a few.

Thread veins can also develop on the body, which can be simply due to day-to-day stress, such as high impact exercise, pregnancy, and the natural ageing process.

What will it involve?

Your skin care practitioner will complete a detailed consultation to establish your skin type, condition, location of the unwanted veins, and your improvement goals, all of which will determine your most suitable treatment plan.

Following a skin cleanse prep, the 3D Vasculase laser is applied.

It involves high energy visible and infra-red laser wavelengths to be delivered to selected, affected veins on the skin surface.

The 3D Vasculase high energy laser precisely targets the affected vascular lesion on the skin surface. It passes through the skin, where it produces heat that causes the vessel wall to collapse and the destruction process to begin. The vein is broken down into microscopic particles, which are then disposed of through the skin’s natural eliminating process.

It safely treats the vascular lesions without damaging any surrounding areas

Why have the procedure?

3D Vasculase is ideal for all skin types and ethnic origins up to skin type 4, suitable to target thread veins on a number of areas for the face and body, including chest, thighs, calves and ankles.

Types of vascular lesions we can treat are:

Does it hurt?

During the treatment, as laser technology moves across the skin you may feel a minor heat sensation.  Each individual has a varied pain threshold in response to the energy delivered to the vein. Care is taken to make it as comfortable as possible.

How many treatments do I need?
Generally, a single treatment will remove a small fine thread vein, and several treatments are advised to remove a typical deep red/purple thread vein. However, several more treatments may be required to remove larger vascular lesions, especially if located on the body.

How quickly will I see the results?
Your practitioner will see the vein visibly disappearing during treatment. Results can be seen instantly, with the fine thread vein visibly disappearing during treatment. The red/purple thread vein type is reduced significantly after each session.

Immediately after the laser application, redness may appear over the treated area of the skin, and it should settle within 24 hours. This is normal and a part of the skin’s defense system to deal with the destruction and removal of the lesion.

The healing process can vary from 5 to 7 days, depending on the type of vascular lesion, location on the face or body, and the intensity with which we treat the lesion.

How long will the results last?
Following a single, or several sessions of treatments if required, the vascular lesion will permanently be destroyed. However, clients should bear in mind that this does not mean new ones will not develop. New veins can develop depending on many factors, such as how one cares for the skin post treatment, diet, stress, hormone influences and lifestyle.

The expected side effects post treatment can include:

• Redness
• Inflammation or swelling
• Scabbing

Treat the skin as a sensitive skin, avoid heat treatments and swimming from 5 to 7 days, or until the skin appears completely calm.

Avoid taking any anti-inflammatory medication for the next 72 hours to ensure you receive optimum result to injury.

Avoid hot baths and treatments – 5-7 days
Avoid heavy exercise, massage etc. for 5-7 days
Avoid touching or scratching the area
Avoid exfoliating products to be used on treatment area for 4 weeks
Avoid sun beds and sun exposure – 2 weeks
Avoid saunas and steam rooms, swimming or Jacuzzis
Avoid deodorant, perfumes or scented body lotions/creams to be applied on treatment area.
Avoid picking any scabbing that may appear, and which need to be left to heal naturally

I have recurring milia so I’m constantly coming to see her for extractions. Before my first visit she answered all of my questions and made me feel like she really cared before I’d even met her.
