What is Hyaluronic Acid (HA)?
HA, a natural hydrating substance occurring in our bodies, which acts as a humectant, attracting and retaining moisture. It plays a crucial role in maintaining hydration, which helps to keep the skin plump.
HA provides structural support to the skin, helping to maintain its elasticity and firmness.
HA is also found in the joints, where it acts as a lubricant, reducing friction and preventing wear and tear.
We have abundance of HA in our youth. As we age, the levels decrease depleting the skin’s support system, resulting is loss of volume which allows lax, sagging skin, lines and wrinkles to occur.
HA is commonly used in various cosmetic applications, including Skin Boosters and Dermal fillers:
What will the treatment involve?
Your practitioner will complete a thorough consultation.
The area to be treated is cleansed and sterilized, followed by the application of the local anesthetic if required.
The Profhilo is injected into specific points across the face, using the BAP technique.
Profhilo is administered in small amounts by intradermal injection, using very fine needles.
The treatment takes approximately 30 minutes.
Once the Profhilo is injected into the points, the product immediately starts to disperse throughout the skin.
Profhilo delivers excellent results as a skin booster treatment, and can be used in conjunction with other aesthetic treatments to achieve desired results.
What areas can Profhilo treat?
Profhilo remodels the ageing and sagging tissue to restore the firmness, texture, and radiance of the skin on the face. It can also be used on the chest and the hands.
Lines and wrinkles will become less noticeable after treatment with Profhilo, restoring a natural looking youthful appearance.
Why have the procedure?
Profhilo is known for being a quick procedure and providing undeniable skin boosting results to increase skin hydration, re-modelling and lifting the skin.
Profhilo successfully treats skin such as:
- Tired looking
- Aged
- Lax
- Sagging
- Dehydrated
- Fine lines
- Wrinkles
Profhilo is not the treatment of choice for deep lines and scars or to add more permanent volume. It is not a dermal filler and will not produce the same results as these.
Is Profhilo safe?
HA has been in Aesthetic use for several decades and thousands of men and women have received HA injections in the world wide every year.
HA injections are administered in such a way that it only affects the area of your skin injected and does not reach any other part of the body.
Providing the HA injections are administered by a qualified competent practitioner in a sterile environment, the risks are extremely minimal.
Does it hurt?
The actual procedure is very quick. A short, sharp pain during the injection may be felt. However, each individual has a varied pain threshold in relation to the needle insertion.
The procedure is generally pain free when a local anesthetic is applied to the treated area prior to the administration of the injections.
As with all injections there may be some mild temporary discomfort and redness in the direct injection site, which subsides quickly.
Care is taken to make the injection as comfortable as possible.
How many treatments do I need?
Profhilo is injected on two treatment sessions in 4-week intervals.
To maintain results a further 2 treatment course is recommended every 6 months.
Completing the recommended treatment program is generally required to achieve the desired look and will determine the longevity of the results.
What results would I expect?
After four weeks, clients experience an improvement in skin hydration, lines and tightness of their skin.
After eight weeks there is a definite lifting and tightening of the skin.
The skin appears more radiant and youthful, with increased firmness, elasticity and an overall improved quality. The effects last up to six months after a second treatment.
How quickly will I see the results?
After the initial treatment you can expect to see results gradually over a period of 4-6 weeks.
The Profhilo formula provides results over these few weeks. As the product injected into the area attracts more moisture, it forms a scaffold to support and stimulate the production of the body’s own collagen, elastin and hydration from within the skin.
How long will the results last?
Results should last on average 6 months and can last for longer, but in some cases for shorter time periods.
This depends on many factors, such as how one cares for the skin post treatment, diet, stress, hormone influences, and lifestyle.
Your practitioner will discuss the various options best to suit our individual needs.
