What Is Acupuncture Best For?

If you have been looking for a wellbeing treatment that delivers deep relaxation and improve overall health benefits without having to go to a retreat, then acupuncture might be exactly what you have been looking for.
At Emporium Treatment Clinic in the heart of Marylebone, this ancient art of healing treatment has quickly become a client favourite for achieving a more balanced, revived you.
What Is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is a form of Traditional Chinese Medicine spanning thousands of years, where illness is seen as a disharmony of the whole body.
It is a beautiful ancient art of healing which involves the insertion of very thin needles through your skin at distinctive points on your body.
This modality of ‘Holistic Medicine’ is a powerful system of energy healing recognised by many cultures all over the world for centuries to restore harmony of the whole body.
Acupuncture has beneficial calming, relaxing affects, promoting physical and emotional balance and a very popular alternative approach to treat pain, regulate the body systems, manage stress and nervous related issues and enhance overall wellness.
What Does Acupuncture Involve?
If you are considering acupuncture, it’s natural to wonder what a treatment session actually involves and what it feels like.
Here at Emporium Treatment Clinic, Marylebone, London an acupuncture treatment begins with a confidential, in-depth consultation, from which all your aspects of your health, medical history, diet, lifestyle, personality type, current health problems and emotional concerns are discussed.
Your first appointment usually lasts between 90 and 120 minutes, as it includes a detailed consultation and assessment as well as your treatment. Follow-up sessions are typically shorter.
To help you feel completely at ease, the treatment room is personalised to suit you. There is a choice of colour lighting, calming scents and relaxing sounds, creating a peaceful environment designed to support relaxation, balance the nervous system and restore your energy levels.
During the treatment, you can remain fully or partially clothed and will lie down comfortably while you relax.
Your practitioner will gently place their hands on different areas of your body before inserting very fine acupuncture needles. These needles are usually left in place for 15 to 30 minutes. As they enter the skin, you might notice a mild sensation such as warmth, tingling, or a gentle dull ache. This is completely normal, as it boosts your Qi, (energy).
Depending on the practitioner’s training, your treatment may draw on different acupuncture traditions such as Daoist acupuncture, Five Element acupuncture, or Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). In some cases, additional techniques may be incorporated to enhance the treatment.
For example, moxibustion therapy (moxa) may be used. This involves burning dried mugwort leaves close to the skin to help strengthen the blood, stimulate the flow of Qi and support the body’s natural healing processes.
Your practitioner may also use cupping therapy, where sterilised glass cups are placed on the skin to create gentle suction. This technique can be particularly effective for releasing tension and improving circulation.
In addition to acupuncture, your practitioner may also incorporate other complementary therapies such as Chinese Tui Na massage, holistic massage, reflexology, acupressure or cranial sacral massage. Infra-Red Heat Therapy may also be adapted into the treatment. These treatments are carefully selected to suit your individual wellbeing needs.
Many people find acupuncture deeply relaxing. It’s not unusual to experience a sense of calm, emotional release, or even drift off to sleep during the session.

Client Review
‘’ I had been having acupuncture for many years with the same practitioner and found every aspect of the treatment beneficial to my physical and mental being. I was devastated when my practitioner moved out of the Uk and even more upset when I tried many practitioners to not achieve the same experience. That was until I had a treatment with Bryan, he does the best Acupuncture in London.
I truly trust and recommend Bryan.’’
